Nicole Johnson is a seasoned music executive and Strategic Music Partnerships Lead at Meta, where she oversees high-impact talent activations across Instagram, Threads, Facebook, Meta Ray-Ban, and WhatsApp. With a proven track record of building cultural relevance through innovative, artist-led campaigns, Nicole has partnered with some of the biggest names in music, including Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Doechii, and Anderson .Paak. Her work has been instrumental in driving platform growth, fan engagement, and brand alignment across Meta’s suite of products.
Nicole’s passion for music began at West Virginia University’s U92 college radio station, where she created and hosted “The Urban Dinner,” a late-night show that still airs today. She launched her career at iHeartMedia’s WKTU in New York City, rising from intern to mid-day producer and later joining the programming team.
Her deep industry experience spans senior roles at RCA Records, BET Networks, SiriusXM, and Pandora. At RCA, she drove national urban radio promotion campaigns for artists like Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, and Jazmine Sullivan. At BET and Centric, she led music and talent strategy for the BET Experience, helping grow the event into one of the largest in LA Live history. At Pandora and SiriusXM, Nicole spearheaded marquee campaigns and live events with artists including Cardi B, SZA, Big Sean, and LL Cool J-while also launching original content and programming celebrating Black music and culture.
Named a 2024 Billboard Women in Music honoree and a multi-year Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Player, Nicole is deeply committed to mentorship and representation in the entertainment industry. She currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation and is a mentor with Femme It Forward.
Based in Los Angeles, Nicole brings over 15 years of experience at the intersection of music, media, and technology-and a lifelong commitment to amplifying culture through storytelling, strategy, and innovation.
The Music Industry Advisory Board aims to ensure that students have access to a diverse set of successful music professionals, so they are aware that there is more to the industry beyond being on the main stage. Our mission is to close the gap for the next generation of music industry professionals to create a more inclusive and diverse future.
