Elena started her career at MTV two decades ago as an assistant with a passion for music and a savvy fo ridentifying cultural trends. She rose up the ranks playing an important role in cultivating talent relationships as hip hop was going mainstream. She orchestrated a number of memorable “firsts” at theVMAs from Kanye West and Jay-Z’s performance of “Otis” to Drake, Rihanna and Nikki Minaj’s awards show debuts. A champion of diversity throughout her career, both in front of and behind the camera, Elena is responsible for an impressive catalog of beloved MTV and VH1 franchises including 2016’s epic “VH1 Hip Hop Honors – All Hail the Queens” with Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Salt-N-Pepa and Lil’ Kim; last summer’s hit “Girls Cruise;” “Hip Hop Squares;” and, the highly-anticipated revival of MTV’s “Making the Band” with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, which is currently in development.

Elena is an NYC native, and a proud NYC public school alumni – from her elementary through high school education. She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Communication.

Elena is a Save The Music Board Director as well as a member of the Music Industry Advisory Board.

Our mission is to close the gap for the next generation of music industry professionals to create a more inclusive and diverse future.
